Summer Movies Cometh – Part 1

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

- I was lucky enough to catch an advance screening of Star Trek this past Monday and I have to say that it’s one of the better ones in the series. Variety has a review of the movie (some spoilers) that I agree with: “While respectfully handling the Roddenberry DNA, Abrams… [has] successfully transferred [Star Trek] to a trim new body that hums with youthful energy.”

- First look at Wolverine taking on Sabertooth in the first X-Men: Origins film (and what’s with Wolverine’s claws???)

- The Detroit Lions release their new logo and team uniform (see the difference? No, then check out their old logo)

- As the NBA playoffs continue, enjoy the real challenge: The matchups for the best dancers of the playoffs

Friday, April 17th, 2009

- Are NFL planners anti-semites? The New York Jets take stand for my people (probably because we’re most of the season ticket holders)

- Is Jimmy Buffett about to take partial ownership of my beloved Dolphins? I am 100% for this as long as he doesn’t change the mascot to a parrot

- Ok, who’s with me: Road trip to the top 10 party schools in the country? (shocker – they’re mostly in warm weather climates… and no, Syracuse did not make the list)

- A British website just posted a list of the top 100 Footballer’s (read: soccer) wives and girlfriends. How good is this list? Beck’s is the lowest ranked

- Mmm… free Cinnabon mini’s on tax day. YUM!

- Is KC dumping the number one tight end in the last 10 years? And doing it just as they’re getting a QB who can use him properly??? That’s INSANE
